"Off the record briefing"

Received this in email from Shareholders Assoc. this morning. Make of it what you will. Dear Member The Association, alongside the Fan Advisory Board and the Fans’ Forum was invited to an off the record briefing at the Royal Liver Building on Tuesday hosted by CEO Angus Kinnear with President of Business Operations Andrew Middleton, and the club’s senior engagement people. Angus gave a review of the Transfer Window, candidly explained the circumstances around the eventual rejection of the offer for Harrison Armstrong, the sale of Illiman Ndiaye, the overall outcome of the transfer window and the chronology of events. Reading between the lines of the discussion, the impression was that the Ownership Group’s financial commitment to the Club in relation to the Transfer Window had reduced in the week leading up to the first game of the season. This appeared to create a greater need for sell-to-buy activity and, ultimately, contributed to some targets being missed as the window progressed. The Club’s overall view of the window was that much of what was planned was achieved but the Club ultimately finished the window one or two players short of what they intended. Our Chair spoke again, on Wednesday, with the CEO with regard to the letter we wrote to Mr Friedkin last week. Angus reiterated that he had immediately forwarded the letter to the Friedkin family, and also called them to give a broader context on the significance and credibility of our group (as fellow owners) with a recommendation that it received a prompt response.
