1. Mauro Icardi — by far the most accomplished pure No.9 available. At 33, he's still a natural penalty-box striker and has a huge goalscoring record. 2. Bamba Dieng — probably the more realistic option for a mid-table Premier League club. He's only 26 and has the physical/athletic profile for English football. He was still being discussed as a free agent recently, with West Ham among clubs linked. 3. Memphis Depay — technically excellent and capable of playing centrally or dropping deeper. He is more of a forward than a traditional No.9. 4. Anthony Martial — still only 30, but his career has obviously stalled. He spent last season in Mexico and reportedly scored just once, so he'd be a gamble. 5. Edin Džeko — enormous experience and still a good finisher, but at 40 he'd be a short-term option rather than a long-term signing. One important name that's not available Dušan Vlahović was the standout free-agent striker earlier this summer, but he has now joined Fenerbahçe, so he's no longer available
