I get the argument that players should only look after themselves

But even if he only came to the PL aged 25, earning an average of £50K a week for 6 years, that’s over 15 million quid.

That is plenty to live on. You can buy a couple of properties, rent them out and live on that, and still have millions left over. Is that really worth more than some medals that he could win?

When the argument starts that he’s looking after his kids, and his kids’ kids, and their kids too one day… is that the sort of thing we should be encouraging? Are those kids going to be good members of society? Isn’t closed generational wealth the thing that kept people like Ollie Watkins (working class) at the bottom of the food chain for centuries?

Doesn’t sit well with me.
