Comparing the squad from summer 2025 to now

This is a full year to judge the new recruitment team and I think it reinforces the three main problems: - Lack of alignment between recruitment and manager (e.g. Aznou, Dibling) but important to note that there'll always be tensions between recruitment and manager and the players we've spent money on look like very good prospects - Inability to use the loan market to plug gaps in the squad - Desperately short of cover at CF and waiting until deadline day to attempt to sign Balogun/Zirkzee/Abraham was a massive error I'm not sure heads should roll though. If you just do a comparison of where we ended the season before the summer 2025 window and where we are now I don't think we're worse off in terms of quality. The only issue is whether we've taken too big a risk in having such a small squad. Compare to Jan 2023 when we sold Gordon and didn't make a single signing. For £75m net spend I don't think it's bad recruitment. And presumably we have SCR headroom (and cash) to be in a position to spend ~£40m on a striker, or a full back, or a centre back. I'm sure I've made some errors here in terms of personnel and apologies if so.
